How to Install Lightning for Outlook

Settings Required

Contact Altvia Support or have a full Salesforce licensed admin user go to “Outlook Integration and Sync” and enable “Outlook Integration”.

Installation Process

In Outlook 2013 or 2016 for Windows, click “Store” from the Home tab on the ribbon (shown below). In Outlook (the web version) click the gear icon in the top right and select “Manage Add-ins”. (Outlook 2016 for Mac users should install via Outlook on the web).

In the search bar on the top right type “Salesforce”.

When the search returns the Salesforce Lightning for Outlook add-in, set the toggle to “On” to install the add-in. The add-in will appear in the Command bar ribbon on the top.

Note: Some users in Outlook 2013 may not see the new in-client store UI. For these users, follow the steps below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Altvia Care Support.

Click “Salesforce Lightning for Outlook” from the Home tab on the ribbon and then click “Manage Add-ins”.

In the Manage Add-ins page, click the “+” sign and then select the “Salesforce for Outlook” add-in from the Office Store.

Click the “Add” button to begin installation.

Once you open up an email in outlook, you should see the Salesforce add-in appear in your ribbon. Select production, click on “Log in to Salesforce” and once the login screen appears you will enter in your AIM/Salesforce credentials.

On the next screen click on “Confirm”.

If you want your Salesforce add-in to automatically appear when viewing an email, just click on the pin icon so it faces downwards, which will now pin the add-in to the right side panel.

If you are using Outlook on a web browser when viewing an email, you can now access the Salesforce Lightning for Outlook add-in by clicking on the three dots to the right and selecting Salesforce.

Other Considerations

Global quick actions allow users to quickly create new records using the + icon on the add-in.

The Altvia Support team can also assist with customizing Lightning for Outlook to include additional information that may be helpful when creating records and logging emails.
